Firefighters on Ladder 5125 responded to wires down at Dunn Road and North Garden Drive. On arrival they found a large sign in front of Dirt Cheap Cigarettes had blown over and knocked down major electric transmission lines along Dunn Road. The downed lines caused a power outage in most of the Spanish Lake area. Winds gusts were reported around 50 mph at the time. AmerenUE workers restored power later in the day.

Firefighters responded with Spanish Lake Air Cascade Unit 5189 to assist the Jennings Fire Department with a three alarm house fire. Firefighters found heavy smoke conditons upon their arrival. The resident reported that the oil furnace blew up in the basement. The ensuing fire destroyed the one story brick ranch house. Jennings was assisted by the City of St. Louis, Moline, Ferguson, Riverview, Normandy, Spanish Lake and Ferguson Fire Departments.
